Hello West Coast!

I am in San Diego now, and for the most part I am very much enjoying the city. I am mostly on my own at the moment. Eliza, my best friend since age two, and her boyfriend Curt are moving back here the 14th and it will be awesome to see some friendly faces. :)

Not much to say at the moment, so instead I am going to list the things here that might take a little getting used to:
-Actually having to press the button for a walk signal. I've forgotten about this an embarrassing number of times.
-Not being able to walk everywhere just because of the layout of the city. There's lots of stuff that's close enough, but not all the roads have sidewalks
-STARBUCKS IS CHEAPER HERE. I got a grande frappucino today and paid less than $4 for it. It was magical.
-Movies are also cheaper here. I approve of $9 movie tickets.
-Completely different array of fast food chains. Rubios fish tacos may become a new favorite of mine.
-BUSES. The bus system here is crazy complicated but I am slowly figuring it out. I have taken the buses a couple of times and managed to not get lost yet. Knock on wood.
-On a similar topic, the one thing I really don't like about the buses is the lack of free transfers. You have to pay every time you get on a new bus. In BOTH directions. Which means one bus trip with one transfer costs me almost $10 round trip. They do have monthly passes however, and I may have to invest in one since I've ended up relying on the buses more than expected.
-THE WEATHER. Oh my god the weather. It hasn't been anything but sunny and comfortably warm since I got here. It's beautiful.

However, some things never change. I think you Vermont people in particular will appreciate the fact that even in Southern California... the fair has Swifty Swine's Racing Pigs.
